Exhibition at Close Gallery

SUNNY SIDE UP | CLOSE GALLERY

15 March – 26 April 2025

Sunny Side Up brings together a fusion of new voices exploring the colour yellow as a symbol of optimism, transformation, and complexity. Featuring works by Patrick Alston, Helen Barff, Amanda Benson, Chris Levine, Sol Lewitt, Kate MccGwire, and many more.

From Van Gogh’s luminous sunflowers to Picasso’s striking contrasts, yellow has long carried layered meanings in art and culture. Sunny Side Up examines these nuances—its warmth and vitality, but also its historical associations with deception, cowardice, and identity. In a world of uncertainty, the exhibition asks: can yellow still be a beacon of hope?

Helen Barff is one of the four artists included at our exhibition ‘Inside The Studio: How Artists Make Work’ at 30 Fenchurch Street.
