AWITA Members at our breakfast event ‘Philanthropy in the Arts: A Game of Give and Take’

Members attended a breakfast discussion between Co-founder of The Twentieth and author Leslie Ramos and journalist Georgina Adam.

The meaning and understanding of Philanthropy has shifted dramatically over a generation and increasingly emphasises impact. Different geographies and demographics favour different approaches, particularly in regard to tax benefits. Institutions and donors should consider what 'good' and 'bad' giving and taking look like.

Ramos' recently published book 'Philanthropy in the Arts: A Game of Give and Take' was the backdrop for a wide-ranging discussion which encourages institutions and donors alike to consider what 'good and bad' giving and taking look like in a time of crisis in arts and cultural funding.

‘There’s a rise of what I call ‘micro-philanthropy’. It’s easier now for any of us to support institutions - anything from membership to tapping your card when you visit museums.’

- Leslie Ramos
